More than Mom
As the average age of first-time moms continues to climb, women are continuing to push back on “mom” being the leading component in their identity. According to a 2014 report by the CDC, the average age of moms hit an all-time high at 26 years. These first-time moms are staying in school longer, are building their careers, and waiting to get married. They have pursued interests and hobbies that they feel are important in defining who they are, and increasingly search for balance between motherhood and me time.
